Ram Room Choice Awards

Think you have one of the raddest rooms on campus? Enter the Ram Room Choice Awards for your chance to win an Apple Watch and bragging rights. 


Grand Prize (2 rooms)

  • Raddest Ram Room - The room that receives the most votes out of all of the halls.
  • Most Spirited - We’re looking for the room that really screams ‘Black and Gold!’

Finalists (12 rooms)

  • Best Room - Whichever room gets the most votes by their peers - one room per hall. (Eligible halls: Ackell, Brandt, Broad & Belvidere, Cabaniss, Cary & Belvidere, Gladding Residence Center, Grace & Broad, Honors, Johnson, Rhoads, West Grace North and West Grace South)

Lucky Draw (1 room)

  • A winner will be chosen randomly from all submitted entries, regardless of whether they were selected as a semi-finalist.

How to Enter

Visit Ram Room Contest form and fill out the contest form. Please make sure to include: 

  • Three to five photographs (.JPEG or .PNG format. Preferably high-quality and well-lit.) of your room, one including a shot of you [and your roommate(s) if applicable.] 
  • Your name(s) and your roommate’s name
  • The name of your residence hall
  • Short paragraph explaining what inspired the design of your room.

  • Entries will be accepted from Oct. 3 at 10 a.m.— Oct. 10 at 5 p.m. through the Ram Room Contest form
  • Due to the university closure the voting will open Oct. 15 at 5 p.m. and will close Oct. 22 at 8:30 a.m.
  • Grand Prize Winners will be notified between Oct. 22—26 and a photoshoot of the winning rooms will be coordinated.


  • Online voting will open starting Oct. 15 at 10 p.m. and will close at 8:30 a.m. on Oct. 22. Voting can be accessed through Voting Form. Voting will be open to the public and participants are encouraged to have their friends and family vote.
  • Winners of the “Best Room” of each hall and “Raddest Ram Room” will be selected by a tally of public votes. The “Most Spirited” winner will be selected by group of VCU staff members, judging the room on its display of ‘school spirit!’ 


  • ALL participants of the contest will be entered into a drawing for the chance to win an Apple Watch, regardless of whether or not they are selected.
  •  Best of each hall will win a trophy
  • Raddest Ram Room and Most Spirited will win an Apple Watch. 

Contest Rules

  • By entering the contest, participants authorize Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) to use their name when announcing the results, as well as reproduce, broadcast, edit, publish and/or publicly display the photographs taken during this contest. You understand that you will not receive any monetary or other forms of compensation now or in the future for allowing your images to be used for these purposes by VCU Residential Life & Housing and/or the VCU Division of University Relations. 
  • Late entries will be disqualified.
  • Semi-Finalists from each residence halls will be selected by VCU staff members based on cleanliness, creativity, best use of space and individuality. 
  • If living in a double or triple bedroom, ALL roommates of that bedroom must agree to enter the contest. Only residents of a bedroom may enter the contest together. Bedrooms inside an apartment, suite, and semi-suite will need to submit separate entries for each bedroom.
  • Entries which display a violation of the VCU Residential Life and Housing hall policy or VCU Code of Conduct will be disqualified.
  • Eligible entries are restricted to VCU students currently living in the on-campus residence halls.
  • Grand Prize Winners will be contacted by VCU staff members to schedule a brief photo shoot in their room for promotional and announcement purposes. If a resident is unable to schedule a time with the contest photography team, or if they cancel or become unavailable at the agreed upon time, she/he/they will be disqualified.
