When Can Upperclassmen (12 Month Residents) Move In?

Upperclass residents (12-month) can start moving in on Aug. 1 at 10 a.m. To avoid large lines and traffic, avoid moving in during 9-Month Move-in on Aug. 17.

What happens at Check-in

  • Check in at the West Grace North main entrance, 830 W Grace St. Richmond, VA 23220. If you decide to arrive after normal business hours, or on a weekend, be prepared to wait for an on-call staff member to check you in.
  • Bring your VCU ID with you to check in. If you do not have your VCU ID, a state-issued photo ID is fine.
  • You will be issued your room key. Don't lose your key! The room key is $65 to replace. You will not receive a mailbox key, as West Grace North residents pick up their mail and packages from the Residence Hall Central Package Center located at 207 N Laurel Street.
  • Moving carts are extremely limited; it is a good idea to bring your own.
  • Be sure to follow all Richmond City parking signs and pay for parking as necessary.
Parking and Unloading

On Thursday, Aug. 1 - Friday, Aug. 2, Sunday, Aug. 11, and Thursday, Aug. 15 - Monday, Aug. 19 only, residents may take advantage of the blocked-off parking areas on the city streets surrounding the VCU residence halls.

On Aug. 1, Aug. 11, and Aug. 17, you may utilize the Broad Street Parking Deck for long-term parking (5 hours max) even if you don't have a parking pass.

If you are an upperclass student arriving on a day not mentioned above, please pay attention to the City of Richmond parking signage and pay the appropriate meters to avoid ticketing/towing.
