The CDC, Commonwealth of Virginia and Virginia Commonwealth University have provided Residential Life and Housing Guidelines for operation that we are strictly following.
Access to sanitizer
Hand sanitizer and other cleaning products will be available at stations throughout the residence halls. Please see hall staff for the locations of these stations.
Cleaning and Disinfecting
Housekeeping staff will be cleaning common areas, bathrooms, and other high traffic areas more frequently. This is a team effort and we ask that students do their part on keeping these areas clean. For example, students should wipe down any surfaces in common areas before and after touching them.
Common Area closures and modifications
Some common areas will be closed off and other common area spaces may be modified to allow for appropriate physical distancing. For example, plexiglass barriers will be installed in certain high traffic areas to allow closer interaction between residents and staff.
Daily Health Screening
Residential Life and Housing along with all VCU employees are required to complete daily health checks before coming to work. If an employee has a fever, exhibits COVID-19 systems or has been exposed to someone with COVID-19, that are not allowed to come to campus and must contact their supervisor and VCU Health.
All VCU employees are required to wear a face coverings at work while they are in public spaces.
Residential Life and Housing along with all VCU employees are required to take a Return to Campus Training before returning. This training covers the University's expectation for preventing the spread of COVID-19 which include proper wearing of face coverings, expectation for sanitizing work stations and more.
Isolation and Quarantine Housing
Residential Life and Housing is setting aside 54 rooms for potential isolation and quarantine needs. We will provide additional information to residents that need to utilize isolation or quarantine housing. We will be supplying additional health kits and food kits to any residents that need to move to isolation housing or self-quarantine in their room.
Guest Policy Suspension
The standard guest policy has been suspended for the 2020-2021 academic year. This includes any individual who does not live within the residence hall they are intending to visit. This includes VCU students, faculty, and staff who do not live in on-campus housing, residential students visiting other residence halls and individuals who are not affiliated with VCU.
The revised Guest Policy will be in effect for the fall 2020 semester. The Public Health Response Team will meet in January to make a determination on the Guest Policy for the spring 2021 semester.
